Ellen R. Blackman

Ellen R. Blackman, 96 of Temperance, MI, and formerly of Monroe, MI, died Tuesday, May 15, 2018, in her daughter’s home. Born September 1, 1921, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of Donald and Muriel (Wiley) Ramsey. A 1939 graduate from Ida High School, she then married Eugene W. Blackman on September 7, 1940. He preceded her in death on December 6, 2012. Ellen was employed by the Monroe County Road Commission for over 25 years. She enjoyed western round dancing and playing cards at Monroe Center for Healthy Aging.
Ellen is survived by her loving daughters, Mary Jane (Paul) Mielke and Jean (Jim) Horne; grandchildren, Carl Paul “Hawk” Mielke, III, Nathaniel E. Mielke and James Patric “J.P.” Horne; great grandchildren, Keegan, Mackenzie and James Peyton. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Mata.
